Coming up for the New York session on gold...

Price was knocked back a bit by the fib stopping power......

If buyers muster the strength to clear this and the remaining thick redlines, the possibility exists for the trend to accelerate. On a convincing close (60min) above the light blue lines would open up a brave new world once more.

Downside is protected by our gann trendline and fib support @ 1035.

Bulls should try to murder the bears here....1050 is holding pretty good since we crossed into it.

It's absolutely amazing. I've been long gold long then i've been on this forum... fighting those gold bears calling for 600 gold!! You know who you are!!!

We've cleared the fib resistance (now support), there is some possible gann magic coming as we approach 1070 but after that, watch out. It could get really interesting...like a pot boiling...it heats and heats and heat and then finally...phase transition!!!

Time is still expiring..but that delta stuff is way to un realiable....that little pit stop could of been a low who knows.

Phase transition would be nice....that ATR will go through the roof...100$ ranges in gold baby! Coming soon .

As the USDX breaks down to 72...that cash register should ring .

speculator84, yeah anyone trying to short this momentum right now is getting it handed to them for sure. Ouch!

Short rallies that fail in a downtrend...but don't short an uptrend thinking tha you're going to be the one person smart enough to call the exact top.

So I agree with you.

Oil, Gold & NASDAQ charts

Gold still flying high with all time highs set this week.

Oil had weakened but is garnering some strength as its breaking above its downward correction (red) line. See if it can put back to the recent highs of $75 and through it.

Nasdaq is still upward, but U.S. stocks are carrying lighter and lighter volume all the time as this trend progresses and that makes me at least question the sustainability of that trend.

Here is an update to the price action.

I've highlighted our "new range" in blue. If price action moves above it to the previous gann trendline (Red) that will be an acceleration. If we attack it from below and move down then we'll be in the most stable price uptrend. 1:1.

Support is in thick red.

Target right now is 1078 & 1089. Major support @ 1042.

Speculator, so what's your price projection on gold? Just curious.

I fully subscribe to the Alf Fields wave analysis on gold.

The last article written by him can be found here.

The FINAL Elliot Wave Analysis for Gold by Alf Field

In short, this is what he laid out in 2003:

Major ONE up from $256 to approximately $750 (a Fibonacci 3 times the $255 low);
Major TWO down from $750 to $500 (a serious decline of 33%);
Major THREE up from $500 to $2,500 (a Fibonacci 5 times the $500 low);
Major FOUR down from $2,500 to $2,000 (another serious decline);
Major FIVE up from $2,000 to $6,000 (also a 3 fold increase, same as ONE)

He further revised his analysis due to price action later :

Major ONE up from $256 to $1,015 (actually 4 times the $255 low);
Major TWO down from $1015 to $699, say $700 (a decline of 31%);
Major THREE up from $700 to $3,500 (a Fibonacci 5 times the $700 low);
Major FOUR down from $3,500 to $2,500 (a 29% decline);
Major FIVE up from $2,500 to $10,000 (also a 4 fold increase, same as ONE)

So...sometime within the next 1-2 years we'll hit 3500. As for timing...i'm pretty sure we're on a 17 year bull run..so 10k by 2016.

Interestingly enough....we made a new all time high but there was almost no media coverage...no front page news etc. It was such a big deal, in the face of the entire stock and commodity complex still reeling from 2008/9,

I was in australia when aussie gold made it all the way to 1600 from ~900 range..I can tell you...it was front page news.

So we can only assume this is very very early yet.

Yes.

Fundamentally you can look at it from two perspectives...

Every ~30 years the Dow will equal the price of gold.

ie 10,000 gold, 10,000 dow. Or 6000 gold 6000 dow.

The second perspective is even more fundamental...

In the early 80s when gold ran to $850/oz, it ran to the exact price that balanced out the US Account deficit.

If you take all the US gold reserves (in oz) * gold price = US Trade Deficit (edit)

If you do the math on those numbers, it puts gold north of $10,000, that's what happend in the 80s. Same thing goes now.
