USD/JPY - Stuck in the Middle

The USD/JPY is at an interesting place right now. With the USD gaining strength against the rest of the majors, the USD/JPY should theoretically strengthen as well. However, the JPY crosses are setting up for a bout of weakness so we should therefore also see the USD/JPY weaken with them. Because of this, the triangle idea in the USD/JPY is looking better and better. With the USD strengthening and the JPY crosses weakening, the USD/JPY could stay range-bound for a while and a triangle pattern is a good way to accomplish that.

This week we could see the USD/JPY chop lower in a triangle wave (C). The EUR/USD and USD/CHF are both due for a wave two correction, which would be a period of USD weakness. That weakness in the USD should show up in the USD/JPY as well, giving it the fuel to move lower in that triangle wave (C).

EURUSD

Holding to an improbable corrective count, bullish, the euro nevertheless puts in what could be a tweezers bottom, to use candlestick expressions.
See the chart for your amusement, but don't ask for the full wave count because I am not going to post it! Work it out for yourself.

Here's a setup I'll be watching going into this week. The USD/CHF has five waves up, so once we see a top in place I'll be looking to buy any pullbacks into fib support.
I also have a bullish bias for this pair, though I see a slightly different count.

USDCAD wave count in smaller time frame.

Most probably pair will retrace in abc waves, before moving in more upward direction.

Hi Bluebottle,

Welcome to the forum!

I think we're all in agreement with the longer term count you presented for the USD/CAD. That's a setup everyone has been waiting for for quite a long time now. Now that we've finally seen the breakout, price should be bullish for the next several weeks.

Below is another count for the short term price action in the USD/CAD. I can see at least a few different ways to count the waves so far. The one below is the most bullish and is calling for higher prices before any decent size correction. We won't know for sure how this wave is unfolding until it's done, but the idea is definitely to be bullish.

Given the wave structure in the other pairs, I am also thinking this wave in USD/CAD is finished and counts the way that you presented earlier. But, if price does continue to rally this is an alternate I'm keeping in mind.

GBP/USD

Hi,

I'm just studying the EW-Theory. I have read the book by Robert Prechter which says that a 5 wave triangle correction like Jamie Saettele just postet of the GBP/USD consist of 3-3-3-3-3 waves. Could somebody please give me an idea of the subwave count? That would be very nice.

Thanks

AUDNZD

I saw Jaime throw up a chart of AUDNZD in here a while back labeling this huge triangle on the monthly chart as a wave 4.. However from the look of this triangle .. It looks like a barrier triangle that will eventually break out to the down side.. I think we could be in a Wave "E" triangle throw over right now... It will take some time to see who is right.. But clearly this triagle looks like a Barrier triangle so my bias must remain for more down side... Price must remain under 1.3538 for this count to stay valid..

Could please somebody help me with the subwave counting of the GBPUSD Chart with the 5 wave triangle correction just posted by Jamie? I thouhgt subwaves would be counted by a 3-3-3-3-3 subwave sequence but I can't find this on the charts. Thanks!
