Sure, many of us here are trend traders and think that's the best way statistically to put the odds on our side.
But this is not a forum that is based off of one strategy or way of doing things. I just want to clear that misconception up.

Wave C or 3? Kurt, there are far better Elliott Wave counters on here than me. I'm a huge and fundamental guy...but I'm still "green" when it comes to EW. I trade the obvious counts that I see...but much of the technical work that I do is just plain simple trend analysis and chart pattern recognition.
So far it seems to be dying at resistance. So you're probably good to go.

i hear you sean i am a trend follower aswell and i am actually reading a book on trend following from the FT.
My bias was a correction to 1.214 something before i could attempt a short again because i didnt like the price down there thats all.
Also i try to work with different concepts when markets are not moving ie i applied price behavior to long or atleast to watch prices attempt 1.214
so taking a long was a risk that paid off my overall bias has always been to the downside but i also have to be adaptive when markets call for it. Originally Posted by Sean Hyman No one here minds if you're a counter trend trader. I think that's a misconception that some try to foster here.

Stupid stupid Stupid. I feel for you bill. Once while trading on my laptop I accidentally executed a huge order by grazing my touchpad. In the seconds it took to reverse the order I lost several hundred dollars. I've learned a few lessons the hard way.

I don't have Bill's "crystals" so I closed my short with a 37 pip profit. Still, not too bad. Now I'll wait and see if it goes back up to 1.21xx area. Unless I get a very strong signal, I might just sit out 'till next week. This rally might still have some wind in it.

True, fundamental traders look at year over year data over time. They look at the slope of the fundamental trends in the macro economies and place trades based off of that.
You can find this type of info on sites like Economic Indicators, Historical Data and Charts etc.
I'm both a fundamental and technical trader. The fundamentals tell me "what" to trade and the technicals tell me "when" to trade it. So I think they compliment each other.
Also, I think that there are times when fundamentals don't matter. For instance, in bear stock markets, fundamentals don't matter...only the bad sentiment, fear and downtrend does.
In stable to good times, assets do trade off of fundamentals (as well as technicals).
