Stops

What is the error message you receive when you are trying to place the stops and limits?

Try to click on the open position that you want to place the stop or limit one, make sure it is highlighted and then click on the F7 key on your keyboard. Also you can do the same and go to Actions -> Positions -> Stop/Limit on the top left of the Java Trading Platform.

Same thing happens when i try to place an entry order. it just ignores it. Ive had to change computers all the time to lpace orders n stops .

Exclamation Stop/Limit

There seems to be a new problem with not being able to set stop or limits on the Java platform. I hit the button on the menu and nothing happens. I right click and nothing happens. This makes my trading useless unless I monitor them 24 hours. Can someone help?

Thanks

I tried all of these actions and none are working. I was able to successfully set a stop and limit a week ago, so something has changed in that time. Please advise.

Getting Started with Automation

So I have successfully downloaded the Java Tradestation. I have also applied for the OrdertoGo API. Can someone tell me how to get started from here. I am an IT person and have programming experience.

I plan to automate my strategy. What does the Java platform give me that I didn't have with the Windows based version? Does the OrdertoGo API plug in to the Java based version.

Any guide would be good - thanks in advance.

Download the package and read the API info...

It gives platform independence (known to work on Windows, MacOS and Linux), and no, it does NOT plug in to the normal API, or vice versa.

The Java API is a more recent development AFAICT...

Unable to start Java platform in Firefox

Hi,

I work at a company where there's no Windows only Linux. So I have Firefox installed but it doesn't recognize FXTS.jnlp filetype and doesn't know what to do with it. I do have j2re-1.4.2 installed and it work on other Java applications.

Could you please advise?

Thanks,
Roman

Have you tried starting it directly, i.e. outside of Firefox? If Sun Java is installed correctly, it *should* recognize jnlp extensions and invoke them through webstart...

On my previous (private) laptop I just linked to it from my desktop, and started it from there... Worked just fine!

change the action for jnlp so it uses javaws.

tools->options->downloads->view & edit actions

search for jnlp, edit the action and browse to your location of javaws.

I think in java 1.4 it should be located in:
$JAVA_HOME/jre/javaws/javaws

This solution worked - I pulled jre-1_5_0_07-linux-i586-rpm.bin from java.com. Installed it and it worked like a charm!

Thanks,
Roman

Desktop Integration on a Mac???

Hello Mr. Patel,

I just downloaded the java application to my Mac and I noticed that I had an option for Desktop Integration. The dialog asked "Would you like to have "FXCM Trading Station" integration into your desktop environment?

Can you please tell me what this means with the Java application and how it applies to the Mac operating system?

Many thanks,

Rhinoaa1
