Question Live Connection?

Hi

I just set up and successfully tested the Alerter.
BUT I then set a price alert and closed the application down, as I would if I was trading. The price was hit but no message received?

WHY?

Thanks
FX42

For the Alerter application to send out alerts, it has to remain open and running for it to send out the necessary alerts.

spike47766, do you have a registered demo or real account? Please ensure that you have selected the right "Account Type" (either DEMO or REAL).

Are you able to login to the Trading Station II platform using the same login and password? If not, please contact admin@fxcm.com

Otherwise, please provide a screenshot so that we could help to investigate the problem. Thanks.

Did this occur using the FXCM Trading Station or the Alerter? If this occured using the FXCM Trading Station, please contact admin@fxcm.com for further assistance.

Otherwise, please download the newly uploaded Alerter within the first post of this thread. This version is the same as the previous version, but it contains better error reporting. Please run this version and supply a screenshot of the error you receive. In this version of the Alerter, it also contains an errorLog file to aid in figuring out the problem. Please supply the errorLog file located by default:

C:\Program Files\Alerter\logs

Instead of smptauth.earthlink.net, please use: "smtpauth.earthlink.net" without the quotes, port 587, no SSL.

As for the username and password, please use the earthlink account credentials.

ie: username@earthlink.net
userpw

You would need to fill in the email information of the email service you wish to send the email from, then the information of your mobile service.

As an example seen in the original post, you can use a roadrunner email service account, which is sending the text message (SMS) to a verizon mobile user.

However, these settings are different for every email provider, and you would need to find out what their specific settings are. Included within the Alerter.zip file are a few email provider settings in an excel spreadsheet.

audio alerts

Does FXCM have the capability to produce audio alerts? Other trade platforms allow the capability to right click on the currency, set the alarm and it's done. It seems this alert only allows email. Does FXCM have plans to integrate any kind of alarm system into their platform?

Thankyou,
daniel
