One of the most important factors to watch when you are selecting systems is your leverage. If you are starting out, I would recommend trying to keep your leverage below 10:1. While the software calculates it for you, here is an example:

Starting Balance: $5000
Fixed Lots: 10K
System A (Typically holds 12 max positions)
Exposure: 120,000 (10K x 12)

Leverage: Total Exposure/Account Balance = 120,000/5,000 = 24:1

In this case you would either want to deposit more funds, or choose a system that typically held fewer positions.

Would it be correct to assume that some of the drawdowns on the report are almost equal to ten percent of the account balance......?

This of course depends on your starting balance. If you started with $30,000 then yes, there would have been a 10% drawdown if you had a position on the Cornerstone Zeus GBPJPY system.

In general it appears that the drawdowns this week were larger than last week. If looking into one of these systems I would pay a lot of attention to the Max DD & Profit Factor.

1) It is important to remember that the Max DD is in pips. So for example, the Cornerstone Zeus GBPJPY system had a drawdown of -3072.

With just 10K fixed lots this would have translated to:
Pip Cost (0.99) x 3072 = $3,041.

If you are not comfortable with this type of drawdown you should look at the systems that perhaps have more modest profits, but a smaller drawdown & a higher profit factor. And of course, if you have enough equity for multiple systems, you will want to balance the volatile systems with the range bound systems.

We do often see consolidation in the summer months. For example, the EUR/USD does seem to be moving sideways on a daily chart. If you have a specific currnecy pair that you would like to look into, visit the Currency Pairs section of the DailyFX Forum for more input.

I do not personally know any rangebound systems off the of my head, but I would start by looking up the details for the top 10-20 systems on FX Performance.

You can get a good description on most of the system, and if you want more detail you can always contact the system provider. Below is an example of a range bound system I found (I didn't get a chance to review its performance).

Recently opened an account to use and test out the FXCM System Selector; mainly so I can have my strategies trade on FXCM's server and not on my personal computer through tradestation.

My question is if I want to use my own "black-boxed" strategies (written in easy language) and not other peoples do I just fill out this form?

In order to have your system added to the Forex System Selector software you have to contact Tradency. I am not sure if a setup is available so that the system remains private. For more information, follow the instructions below:

In 2007 FXCM began working with Tradency and launched the Forex System Selector. With this product clients are able to build customized portfolios by combining automated forex trading systems. Forex System Selector clients pay the bid/ask spread compensation to FXCM in addition to a $1 (per mini lot round-turn) commission to the system provider. To obtain the technical specs needed to have your system feed into the platform please contact Greg Hay at greg.hay@tradency.com. Once setup, there is a a trial period of 3-6 months after which if your system is showing a positive equity curve it will be considered for inclusion on FXCM's Forex System Selector platform.

Because the market seems to change from time to time and because sometimes systems do not adapt to the changes well....... would you mind posting some cumulative results once in a while....

Certainly there are some of these systems showing better than excellent results and I wish to find out if they have performed well long term...
