couple of questions.

1) within the demo account, are you able to delete the 4 systems pre chosen and add the ones that you would like to trade? or can you add other systems to see how they trade?
2) the spread on the various currency pairs changes. does the hisorical performance incorporate the exact price that the system has bought the currency pair on the buy/spread as the time? ie. does the historical performance of AAABBB system exactly represent how the system has performed on a person's live account
3) do all the systems always operate at all time? or do they have start/stop triggers. so if a system was on and i chose it, could an indicator signal the system to stop working (as it does not perform in the now current market conditions) while i have it as active on the account?
4) i live in australia. can i open an FSS account as an australian company? and does it need to be denominated in USD?

As with any investment into FX, there are no guarantees except that you will experience losses in your account.

The way the FSS is set up, if the signal providers don't place any trades, then you don't pay any commissions. Therefore, you are not out anything if the signal providers are not sending you any trades. Personally, I would not want a signal provider that guarantees a certain number of trades because they would simply run up my costs through spreads and commissions.

The signal providers have no idea what your margin levels are. Therefore, it is up to you (the client) to determine the trade size that the signal provider is going to send to your account.

There are times when the market is not going to produce many GOOD trading opportunities. This usually occurs during trend changes. One could argue that a trend change is in the works right now on the USD. Sometimes the best trade is not taking the trade...

1) Yes, you are able to delete the systems and add your own...it is completely up to you. Those 4 systems were suggestions to help you get started but feel free to delete and modify.

2) The spreads are variable in the FSS account. The information you see in the Trade Details section are based on prices at the moment signals are sent to FXCM so they do incorporate the spread. The actual prices executed into a clients account could be slightly different depending upon the liquidity of the market at that time. A clients actual performance could be different that what you see. For example, let's assume a system opened a trade on June 1 and closed it on June 5. Then, let's also assume you opened a new FSS account and added the system on June 2. Obviously, your results would not include this trade because the trade was already opened when you added the system.

3) The systems could theoretically be looking for trades 24 hours per day. If you don't want the system to look for trades for you, then you would need to delete it from the portfolio.

Hello, I'll start by saying I may find it hard to express myself here, mainly because english is not my native language. Now that that's out of the way...

Funny enough, when I tried to find what I called 'prudent' systems, my list had all but one of those systems. My selection had 5 and only PipRancher wasn't there. IntelliForex-Swing USDCHF entered my list mainly because it's on a Top Portfolio Package.

I kind of lost my faith in these systems when I noticed their profits seemed to have pretty much stopped since January.

I then started using newer systems - around 3 to 6 months old - that seemed to consistently be making profits on current market conditions. Like HidalgoFx, EURUSD and AUDUSD.

What is your view on this? Thank you!



P.S.: Also, I'd like to know If it is or when will it be possible to open a Euro denominated account (but don't know where to post this question).

Hi Alec...I think your english is good.

My analysis is showing the market conditions changed from a trend to a choppy range sometime in the first half of 2009. Many systems trade trends so a trend follower is going to experience drawdowns when the conditions change to something other than a trend.

I look at several types of automated systems (not a part of the FSS) and some are showing drawdowns that began in June while others are showing as early as January. On the flip side, strategies that would perform well in a choppy range began to perk up in January 2009.

What does this mean? This means, in my opinion, that market conditions of the past 3-6 months are not the favored trending condition for the strategies listed above.

I do believe the signal providers noted above will begin to perk up soon. Since around Sept 8-10, the automated strategies I developed that like trending environments began to show a little life. One thing you can do to investigate this further is to compare the actual trade results of the above named systems before Sept 8-10 and compare that to after that point. These past 2 weeks doesn't constitute a trend, but it does offer a clue of a possible changing condition to the market.

If the conditions of the market are indeed changing, then the newer systems you mention may begin to experience drawdowns. I don't know for sure if they will as that is the risk you run with a newer system. Perhaps keep an eye on both sets of systems and be nimble to change if need be.

Yes, I have and what I choose may or may not be right for you. The goal of these threads are to provide you with a perspective of how to perform your own analysis so you can make your own decisions.

First of all, you want to ask yourself how much risk based capital you have to trade with. If the number is fairly small (<$10,000), then you will be somewhat limited in the providers available to still maintain that STAYING POWER.

There are several providers that have constantly come up in various filters.

Below are some of those providers included at the beginning of this thread. There are other providers recently reviewed the in Systems Review by Course Instructors. Also, clients have provided some systems they are checking out as well.
