Need help with platform.
Wondering if you could help me. My system involves setting up multiple resistance/support bands(different coloured rectangles) in the RSI at specific levels. And its starting to bug me having to re-type the dates and levels every time I open a new chart (which is very often). Since I generally use the exact levels and times I tried setting up a template but it only saved the chart and RSI, not the rectangle bands. Is there any way to save these rectangles onto the RSI so I don't have to type everything each time I open a new chart. Perhaps a custom Indicator?
I hope that all makes sense.
Hello Torus, and thank you for your post! On behalf of myself and everyone here at FXCM, welcome to the forum community!
I'm having trouble saving rectangles on the RSI in my charts on Marketscope 2.0. Is there a way I can save these rectangles?
What I would suggest is to save the chart as a "Snapshot".
What is a snapshot?
A snapshot is like literally taking a picture of a chart as you have it at that given point in time.
After you save a snapshot, when you open the snapshot it will bring the exact same chart you had when you took the snapshot. It will give you the same pair, same indicators, settings, and even the same zoom of the chart when you took the snapshot. You cannot apply the snapshot to any other charts. A chart snapshot saves a chart with all its settings, elements and MarketShot price data. A chart snapshot contains the following:
Symbol, Period, Time interval, Chart mode, Whether an ask and/or a bid chart is displayed, Link settings, Price overlays, Trading settings (show/hide orders/positions), Whether the grid is shown or hidden, Whether the locking view is enabled or disabled, Chart frame position and size.
Chart elements and their settings:
Lines, Fibonacci, Pivot Levels, Indicators, Labels.
How do I take a snapshot?
Once you have set up your chart accordingly, from Marketscope 2.0 please click on "File" on the top left hand corner of Marketscope 2.0, then "Snapshots", then "Save Snapshot".
Name the snapshot accordingly.
You can bring back that snapshot at any time by clicking on "File" on the top left hand corner of Marketscope 2.0. From there go to "Snapshots", then "Open Snapshot".
From there choose the snapshot you would like to open and click "OK".
Keep in mind that a snapshot will bring the exact same chart you had when you took the snapshot, so it does not update with new data.
Trader Tip: When you open a snapshot simply change the Period of the chart and it will begin to update with live data. After you change the period you can change it back to the period you were previously viewing, and you can apply your set up of the chart to other currency pairs as well!
You can also save your charts as "Templates", or "Layouts". For more information please click here (Horizontal lines are 'moving').
