How do I add Fibonacci lines?

FXCM’s Marketscope charts have been designed to be customizable and user friendly. Keeping with these high standards, drawing Fibonacci lines is easy to do and can be initiated several different ways.

To draw a Fibonacci line you can do any of the following:

Step 1: Left click on the Add Fibonacci Icon at the top of your charts:

Step 2: Right click on a chart, place your cursor over “Chart Elements” and left click on “Add Fibonacci Retracement.”

Step 3: Press the “F” key on your keyboard
Note: You’ll know you are ready to draw your Fibonacci lines when three horizontal lines appear next to your cursor.
How do I draw the Fibonacci lines on a chart?

To draw Fibonacci lines on a chart all you have to do is select the Add Fibonacci option in Marketscope then left click and drag your cursor along the trendline for a currency pair.
Fibonacci Retracement (Bullish Market): Left click at the trend low on a daily chart and drag your cursor to the trend high.
Fibonacci Retracement (Bearish Market): Left click at the trend high on a daily chart and drag your cursor to the trend low.
How do I use Fibonacci Numbers to trade?

Fibonacci numbers are used to create lines on a chart representing hidden levels of support and resistance based on market trends. To calculate these, you would use the obvious high and low for a pair’s trendline on a daily chart. Then find the 38.2%, 50% and 61.8% levels based on that trend distance to determine support and resistance.

However, FXCM’s Marketscope charts will take care of those calculations for you!

Once you have your Fibonacci lines on a chart you can use these to trade using your support and resistance based strategies. You can also use technical indicators such as Relative Strength Index (RSI) to better time your entries.

Want to know more about the Relative Strength Index? Click Here to Chat Now and we can schedule a call when convenient for you!

How do I overlay another price on my charts?

Many traders like to have multiple currency pairs pulled up at once in order to analyze how the prices move in relation to each other. With the MarketScope 2.0 charts you can overlay prices on charts to make this analysis even easier!

To overlay a price on your charts, follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Open the MarketScope 2.0 charts and select your desired currency pair.
Step 2: Click on Insert and then on Price Overlay
Step 3: Select the currency pair that you would like to overlay and click on OK
Step 4: The price will be overlaid on your current chart
How can I use a Price Overlay in my daily trading?

The Price Overlay is a powerful feature included in the MarketScope charting package. It allows traders to use other correlations between currencies or indices as an indicator to confirm or reveal an upcoming move.

For example, given the 90% correlation between the S&P 500 index and the EUR/JPY, traders can use the price overlay feature to place the SPX500 over a EUR/JPY chart and look for significant reversal points from key levels of support or resistance on the SPX500 chart and look for possible entries to trade in EUR/JPY in a similar direction. At times, the SPX500 can lead the EUR/JPY and at other times they can move together in lock-step. Since the S&P 500 is one of the most widely watched indices, tracking both the SPX500 and the EUR/JPY can provide an additional level of confirmation to combine with other indicators.
Where can I find more information about correlations?

Each month the DailyFX analyst team releases an updated article providing information about the correlation among multiple currency pairs. This is a great resource for anyone wishing to learn more about how different currencies are correlated.

To view the Forex Correlations article on DailyFX, click here!
