What are the new Strategy Backtesting tools?

Strategy Backtesting lets you test strategies and signals against historical prices to quickly find out how strategies or signals would have performed had they been used.

You can now quickly analyze trading strategy and signal performance directly from the platform. The strategy backtesting feature is available from the “Strategy Backtesting” button located on the Trading Station navigation menu or the Marketscope Charts.

Where can I find more strategies?

The Trading Station II platform offers over 15 strategies and signals right out of the box. You can also download over 600 custom indicators, strategies and signals free from fxcodebase.com*.

To learn how to download custom strategies and signals for the Trading Station II, follow these simple steps:

1: Using your web browser, navigate to FXCodeBase.com* or click here.

2: Click on “signals” or “strategies” in the second paragraph at the top of the website.

3: Find the signal or strategy that you would like to use and click on the title of the post. For this example, we’ll click on the CCI Strategy.

4: Find the Download the Strategy section and right click on the file name ending in .lua and save this to a place on your computer that you will remember, such as a folder on the desktop.

How do I optimize a Strategy?

The Trading Station’s new intelligent optimization feature automatically back-tests strategy parameters for the best settings, saving you time in deciding what the best settings are for your strategy. In order to optimize a strategy please follow the simple steps below:

    1. Click on the “Optimize Strategy” button from the Trading Station Navigation menu.

    2. The “Optimize Strategy” window will appear. Select the strategy you would like to optimize and click “Next”. For example , we will optimize the FRACTAL_ALLIGATOR_SYSTEM(Fractal-Alligator System) strategy.

    3. Choose your account parameters and then click “Next”.

    4. Choose your date parameters and the instruments that you would like to simulate, then click “Next”.

    5. Add parameters to optimize by expanding the strategy parameter drop-down boxes. Click “Next”.

    6. Confirm the margin requirements and click “Next”.

    7. Set your optimization parameters accordingly and then click on “Start” to begin your optimization.

The complexity of your optimization project will determine the amount of time it will take to optimize that strategy. Once the optimization is complete you can check your results. The best settings and parameters for your strategy for the date parameters of your optimization will be highlighted in green from the “Results” tab.

Please keep in mind that past performance isn’t necessarily indicative of future results.

If you have other Trading Station II questions, please post your question on this thread and we will reply with an answer!

How do I search for indicators?

You can search for a specific indicator when you are loading an indicator. To search for indicators, open the Add Indicator window, and type the name or a description of the indicator into the Search field.

For example, if you want to add the Stochastic indicator to your chart, you can type Stochastic into the search field and the list of indicators will automatically filter for indicators with “Stochastic” in the name or description.

How do I delete all chart elements?

With the Marketscope 2.0 charts, you can now delete all chart elements for your charts with one click. You can remove all the chart elements on your chart by right clicking anywhere on the charts, then going to Chart Elements, and then Remove All Elements.

Trader Tip: The fastest way to remove all chart elements is to use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Alt + R. Keyboard shortcuts can be changed from the System option in the Main Menu.

How do I change my chart data range?

Let’s say that you would like to narrow down the EUR/USD Daily chart to show data for the last month. To change the data range, select the timeframe drop-down menu titled “D1”, navigate to “1 Day”, and select “1 month”.

    Hi jasni6406,

The updates for the platform should be available in the end of this week.
However you can try the new version right now: the beta version of the platform is available on the FxCodeBase site: FX Trading Station/Marketscope 2011-III Beta (note that the link is available for fxcodebase registered users).
Please also note that the beta version is installed in addition to the production version of the Trading Station. It does not replace the production version, so both version can be used simultaneously, in the same time.
