    cannot grab chart by mouse

I cannot grab a chart (cursor changes to a fist) and move it with the mouse. I can grab an oscillator area, but not the price area.

There is no visual indication by any of the chart icons that anything is turned on that caused this. I have searched with your useless search function for an hour or so and not found the previous answer to this question.

This is not in the help file, either. It's really iritating to waste time on something so trivial, but it happens every once in a while and I'm tired of deleting the chart and recreating it to get the function back. Could you please document what is going on here somewhere that we can find it?

    Hi llewell,

If I have understood everything right, you cannot move the price area of the chart with the mouse like shown on the pisture below (back, forward, up, down. ect).

In fact, there is no such an option in Marketscope: to make chart freezed. The only option that disable up and down movements is Autoscale Chart Vertically button. It enables/disables the automatic scaling of the price axis which allows to view all prices for the displayed periods when the chart is scrolled.

Anyway you still will be able to grab and move price area back and forward. The same thing will be with the indicator area. If you click autoscale button the indicator area will be disabled to move up and down.

If this is not the issue you have faced, please tell me which indicators you have inserted on the chart when the problem occures. And when the next time problem arise, please save layout and send it to us on the support@gehtsoftusa.com.
By default the Layouts folder is located in the directory: %:\Program Files\CandleWorks\FXTS2. Find this folder, archivate and send to us.

    Best regards,
    Ekaterina

    cannot grab chart by mouse

    Ekaterina,

Yes, the problem is as you describe. I have duplicated it on another computer. On a daily chart I have pivot points in the price area and RSI and CFG_MO plotted as oscillators. I could grab the chart by left-clicking in the price area, the pointer turned into a fist, and the chart could be scrolled. Then I scaled the chart with the scaling bar on the right side and with the scroll wheel, and now I cannot grab the chart anymore. I tried autoscaling to undo the scaling operations I had done, but nothing works. It's like a bug in the charting application. I don't know which operation specifically changed the way the chart works. But now the second computer is like the first; I can grab an oscillator area but not the price area. The only thing that seems to reset the chart is to delete it and do another one.

I am using an up-to-date MarketScope 2.0 on XP will all the updates Microsoft has put out. There are some Windows 7 machines in the house but I've been sticking with XP; I cannot tell you if 7 has the same problem.

    Ted

It came unstuck, first on the second computer where I reproduced the problem, then I did it on the first one (where I do most of my trading). It was some combination of maximizing the windows (so I could see the autoscale button, but perhaps just being maximized helped) hitting the autoscale a couple of times and then exiting and restarting the program seems to restore the function. When I noticed this the first time, only horizontal movement came back at first, then another couple of clicks on autoscale restored horizontal and vertical movement. Then I did the other computer; I maximized the window, hit autoscale two times, restored the window to it's regular position, exited TSII completely, restarted, and now I can grab the chart.

I also sent the contents of my Layouts folder, the 2screen.chd file, as requested. Thanks for your help.

    Hi llewell,

we have recieved your Layout. But we are not able to open the entire Layout, because the the indicator 'MVADIFF' is not found.

We have tested your layout without this indicator and the problem is not repeated. Our suggestion is that the issue is caused exectly by this indicator. Perhaps you have the same problem as this one user (Indicator selection sticking):

It's possible you are using an indicator that is very large on the chart. So large in fact that it is hard to click anywhere without clicking somewhere on the indicator. This is pretty rare but is something to consider.
If it is possible you can send the MVADIFF code to us and we will try to reproduce the issue.

    Best regards,
    Ekaterina

I am not sure why MVADIFF comes up in the layout file, as that indicator is not displayed on the charts where I had the problem. It was on the charts at one time, but I removed the area. I have sent the files (the .lua and the .lua.rc) as requested.

As to the comment about enlarging an area on the chart. I commonly enlarge areas and zoom in on the range. Perhaps that had the effect you noted. In a chart that occupies the entire vertical area of the window, I commonly enlarge the oscillators so that the price area occupies about half of the window, the oscillators the other half, with the largest oscillator area occupied by RSI. The problem was on a chart set up like this.

    Hi llewell,

unfortunately we still cannot reproduce the issue. MDADIFF seems to be fine.

I would recommend you to try the TS/Marketscope 2012-I beta-version from the FXCodeBase forum. This forum section is available only for the registered users. Please register before download.

You can install this version without removing your current version.

If you still will have the problem, please report us.

    Best regards,
    Ekaterina

    This has happened for me

I have the same problem randomly.
It has happened around 20 times over the last 30 days.
I have to refresh the view by reloading the Layout.

I cannot figure out what I do right before it happens.
    I have Windows 7

    Hi POPPJOBB,

Probably, the problem is the same as in the previous post. But to be sure, please send us your layout folder on the support@gehtsoftusa.com.

    Best regards,
    Ekaterina
