I'm looking to exit an hour or so prior to the GDP flash on Friday for the UK.
I believe that cycles are the only phenomena that we ultimately trade on. Charts can reveal the cycles visually. In actual fact, my trading (a different activity from forecasting) is done on numbers generated in Excel!

But I do have some revisions to next week's low target. As follows.

It is quite difficult to be precise in Metastock end-of-day, especially when the data provider throws in Sunday as a separate day, but this chart shows that cable has strong support at 1.6160 (50-day SMA), 1.6185 (rising price/time ratio line) and 1.6210 (math level). If the currency closes above those levels on Monday and Tuesday, cable is quite likely to go up, as you believe, since the fresh cycle commences at the new moon on Wednesday. Therefore my low target of 1.5924 before then is much less certain than I thought before. As you say, three days of rising may be all that can be sustained, given that this next 45-day cycle is the fourth in the series from March 10. But an eventual break above this range puts 1.75 into focus.

My study has not been as consistent as I would like and thus my learning hasn't been steady. Life does have a habit of getting in the way. None-the-less I am managing to keep with it; and at this point I am seriously considering buying the DT trading program. Essentially it is a chart analysis program.
It would be a significant investment - $1700 for the program and $400 for the e-Signal Real Time annual license. As such before I actually go forward with the purchase I want to make sure I know what I am getting into – the program’s strengths, limitations, and anything that would be important to know. As such I would be very appreciative if you, since you are well experienced with the DT Program, would offer any comments about this program that you think would be important to know. In addition I also have some specific concerns that maybe you could also address. These derive from the fact that (1) my trading account platform (with FXCM), and (2) the DT chart analysis program would be independent from each other. Even the free chart programs that FXCM offers allow one to perform all you entries/exits right from the chart – platform and charts are functionally integrated – very convenient and efficient. Has this functional independence between the trading platform and the DT Program caused you any concerns? Could this be a problem for example if the data feed for currency prices for each of the programs comes form different companies and thus have slightly different prices?

Thanks again

Covered Long Position

I've covered my long position at 1.6405 (started at 1.6330)

Just wondering if anyone else had a long position open and if you're planning for a Short position now ?

hey ashwert,

i'm long @ 16365 - s/l at that level aswell, i'm looking to keep this position till Friday when we get the GDP numbers announced.

there is alot of optimisim around (un-justified imho but hey ho!), shorting this pair during earnings season would be very risky.

Well this is my first post to this thread, so hello all. I am one of the idiots who has been short the GBP, just took my medicine and wore another loss. I just can't believe this currency keeps rising

I have a 'sell' at 1.6400 and I'm hanging on, as it surely has to dip down below this level before long?

I'm packing up stumps with the GBP, wait on the sidelines to see what happens because nothing makes sense to me at the moment

I'm new to this thread and new at live trading. What do you think would be a good entry for this pair to hold til Fri?
Thanks,
