Getting started

Hello,

I'm a real newbe in FXCM.

I see there are many API's and I don"t know the one I should rather use.
  1. I know Java and C++ programing
  2. The functionalities I want to develop in my program are :
  • Getting historical data for any instrument of the Forex
  • Compute my own indicators over historical and real time data
  • Launch orders on any instrument when some criteria are checked

Given that, what is for me the best way to deal with these API's ?

Thank you

Order2Go COM API would be the best for you as it is able to retrieve both real-time and historical data. It also allows you to launch orders and obtain the functions that are available on the FXCM Trading Station. In addition, instructions can be sent to place, modify and retrieve information from market and entry orders.

If you are interested, please feel free to fill in the request form at:

Ok thank you for your response.

Is it sure Order2Go COM API has no version in Java ?
(this question because I've no C++ IDE - I use NetBeans - )

If it's only provided in C++ (or Basic as I've seen) could you please advice me for a light C++ IDE ?

Thank you

OK I'm ashamed I asked the last question (I didn't know NetBeans had a C++ module). I installed it.

Could someone tell me if that's possible to find sample source code unsing Order2Go COM API ? In order to save time, I would be happy to see a source code which :
  • connects to an account,
  • gets some historical data from any instrument
  • launches an order

Thank you

Have you obtained Order2Go yet?
It comes packaged with several example applications and source in several languages. They can be accessed through
Start?Programs>FXOrder2Go>Examples

Yes you're right. I didn't install Order2Go yet. Now that's done.

Something worrying : in the file Order2Go Getting Started.pdf it's written :

Quote:
Limitations of the Order2Go Trading API:
• The Order2Go API does not have access to historical rate data. Only the current executable bid and ask prices are available for each currency pair.
That's in contradiction with what you said :
Quote:
Order2Go COM API would be the best for you as it is able to retrieve both real-time and historical data.
Well I hope the pdf file is not updated.

Could you tell me more about it ?

Thanks

about KAMA indicator

the Kaufman Adaptive Moving Average,
local fastend = 0.666;
local slowend = 0.645;

Should 'slowend' be 0.0645?
