The FXCM Trader 4 is in eastern time so the GMT offset is -4. The daily candle starts at 00:00 Eastern Time.

On MT4 powered by Boston Technologies, the server time is set to GMT +1.

Jason, are we supposed to be able to use the free expert advisors from FXCM? I cannot get them to attach to the chart in a demo. Am I missing something simple. There are other issues. My first concern, however, is just getting the EA attached to the chart. Please advise.

Hi birdjaguar,

Yes, you can use the free expert advisors on the metatrader platform. Do you see it in the navigator windows list of expert advisors? If not, the expert advisor file forst needs to be saved into the metatrader experts folder on your hard drive. If you're not familiar with where this is located open My Computer and navigate here: C Drive > Program Files > FXCM MT4 powered by BT > experts. When you login to the MT4 platform again, you should see the expert advisor in the navigator window and from there you can drag and drop on the chart.

Let me know if there are any problems with it.

-Jason

MT4 script Problem

I am using FXCM MT4 powered by BT demo account.
when I try some script, it always return 130 error, which means invalid stop.
but the scripts are excute ok on other mt4 platform.
example, this simple script is return 130 error。
int ticket=OrderSend(Symbol(),OP_BUY,0.1,Ask,10,Ask-300*Point,Ask+300*Point,"",255,0,CLR_NONE);

but I think 300 point is an valid stop.Does fxcm mt4 not support script?
Or not support set stoploss while OrderSend function?
You can modify the original "trade" script in mt4, replace the OrderSend
with this, see if it return 130.

i was hoping to trade this week, but it hasnot happened

maybe it is not my time yet. has there been anyone in the micro accounts who have gone on to trade the standard accounts by increasing their profits at all...or are the micro account holders meant to stay micro account holders?

Well if you have a good trading system, good discipline and you compound your profits month after month, at some point you will have to upgrade to standard account and you will start trading 20, 30 or 50 100K lots per trade.

And before you know it, you will soon be trading with the big "boys" and the deep pockets. You know, the traders who can win 200 grand in a day like if it was just another boring trading day!

Accounts from now on are setup on MT4 powered by Boston Technologies; however, you can have this setup through either FXCM UK or FXCM US. The benefit of opening through FXCM UK is that you can continue to use hedging and the account is segregated in accordance with FSA regulations. That is why the website now sends you directly to FXCM UK.

Boston Technologies is the firm which provides the technology that allows MT4 to communicate with FXCM's no dealing desk execution.

All things being equal I would prefer to open US MT4 in order not to have to pay higher swift wire rates or wait 10 days for mailing etc. etc. My main issue is spreads and no requotes. Is that the same for both UK and US. I know that UK says no requotes but have not heard on US. Hedging is not that important to me. Thanks

You can open the MT4 account through FXCM US by listing the referring agent on step 4 of the online application as "MT4". It will then be setup on the MT4 server. Spreads are the same regardless which entity you go through.

FXCM UK holds USD funds for non-UK residents at the Bank of America in New York, so you won't have to pay any additional international wire fee if you fund the account by bank wire. Credit card and debit card deposits were also released for FXCM UK. In the end, the deposit/withdrawal options are the same. Plus you get the added benefit of a segregated MT4 account through FXCM UK regulations.

MT4 powered by Boston Technologies has the spread marked up 1/10th of a pip (0.00001) which is compensation for Boston Technologies. This is why you will see a slight difference in spread with the FX Trade Station II.

All MT4 accounts use the No Dealing Desk execution.

Anyone using FAP Turbo?

Another note: Please make sure that any expert advisor you use is compatible with fractional pips. FXCM quotes rates to 5 decimals (3 decimals on JPY pairs) for fractional pips.
I'm curious if anyone out there is using FAP Turbo? All of the reviews I can find seem to be positive - just wondering if anyone has tried it. (If I should be posting this in a different form, please let me know.) Thank you!
