Hi kpips,

A read only login for the FX Trade Station is only created for live accounts on MT4. The same is not created for demo accounts. For MT4 the demo, please use the account history list in the terminal window to keep track of the trading history.

I did receive an investor password that's for read-only, but I have not been able to get into FX Trade Station with it. In Trade Station, I enter my MT4 account login number and then the investor password (since it said it's for read-only access). Shouldn't I be able to access FX Trade Station (for validation/reporting purposes only) with an MT4 demo account? I want to be able to do everything in demo as I would with a live account.

Thank you!!

Slippage - help me understand

I have been using FXCM MT4 powered by BT and a demo account for a few weeks now. I'm running only the FapTurbo EAs -- the scalper on the EUR/GBP, UER/CHF, GBP/CHF, and USD/CAD.

For the Slippage setting I had it set to 3 for awhile and recently changed it to 6. Most of my trades are closing near the T/P and S/L settings, but many of the trades completely blow past the T/P or S/L settings. In some cases it's to my advantage - a trade closed with a profit of 82 pips when the T/P was at 6 pips, but on the flip side a trade closed with a loss of 92 pips when the S/L was at 36 pips.

Can someone please explain what happens when it flies by the T/P or S/L settings? I understand it can happen during high volatility, but if the S/L is set at 36 and it jumps past it to 70.....then what does the system do? Does it close my trade as quickly as it can even though it's way off from the S/L setting? Or does it go through more analysis to determine when to close?

Some postings I've read say to tighten the slippage to 2 or 0, but other posts say to increase it significantly, and others say to leave it at 6.

Just trying to understand the process it goes through so I can tweak my settings to improve the results (although they're not bad overall). Also, I'm not certain if this question should only be directed to FapTurbo since it's their EA's I'm running or how much is related to what FXCM MT4 is doing. Any insight you have is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
kpips

kpips, you'll get lots of discussion for your fapT EA in their forum as a member. FXCM is a good broker as I have used the trade station years ago. As for MT4, I've tried FXCM and a few other brokers with various EAs. It is worth continuing your live tests (over months) to discover the best possible combination of broker+Ea.
Good luck with that!

Missing chart data

Hi Jason,

Today I noticed that there is some chart data missing (UK MT4 Demo account). On the 15 min chart (EUR/USD), the 14:30 and 14:45 candle are missing.
The data is missing for all currency pairsand timeframes I checked. Refreshing didn't help, and downloading/recalculating from the history center completes with this message:
21:42:34 HistoryBase: 7 errors in 'EURUSD1'

How can I fix this, and more important, how do I know that the data is missing when it happens?

Thanks,
Rob

Hi Rob,

I checked on the missing candle with our technical support team. For some background information, this type of situation typically occurs for one of two reasons. The first could be that the prices were greyed out during that time. By this I mean, the prices were indicative and not executable. This could occur if liquidity dries up from the banks or if there's a severe increase in the spread. Second reason could be due to technical issues where the chart simply wasn't receiving price updates.

I checked the chart against the FX Trade Station Marketscope chart and Marketscope displays the missing information. So this leads me to believe there was a technical issue with the chart not updating during that time. I am awaiting confirmation from our tech department that this was the case. Since the chart data is missing, we have to add it onto the chart to fill in the missing data. Once the data is added, it will match up with the Marketscope chart.

There is nothing you need to do from your side. We will be correcting it from our side.

-Jason

To let everyone know, we have reached our maximum for VPS beta testers. I will let you know once it is open again or fully launched.

The ex4 file is created by MT after the source mq4 file (editable) is compiled by the MetaEditor.

Hi aowardha,

It's a late reply, but wanted to get an answer for anyone that may have the same question. It is crucial to update the platform in order to login. You can update it one of two ways. Either uninstall and reinstall the platform. OR (much easier) change the server in the login window from FXCM-Live to mt4.fxcorporate.com . Type the web address into the login window if doing the second option.

Backtesting Longer Timeframes

Hi!

I am back-testing an EA which is using 5 min candles.

How can I get the EA to back-test data beyond the 2,048 bars which is only about 7 days? Is there an option on the MT4 platform to extend this?

Cheers,
David

display indicator values

On the FXCM platform, does anyone know how to allow the fluctuations in the indicator values to be displayed on the indicator label without going to cursor data?
