How to detect problems with MT4 platform?

Hi

As I understand MT4 platform must be open at all times with live internet connection in order to perform necessary tasks (open or close positions etc.), but what will happen when suddenly internet connection is broken or maybe there is a problem with computer etc.

I guess the question is: Is there any solution that will remotely detect and notify user (by e-mail, txt messaging etc.) about any problem with trading platform?

Any ideas will be appreciated.

Thx

Your question is not very clear. If there is no internet connection how can one receive/send email?

Are you asking - "I have metatrader running in my home; but when I go to office and if the internet link breaks at home I want to be notified at my office PC" ?

If that is the question, yes, it is possible. You need to set up a "ping" tool with "scheduler" which will ping your office machine from home every few seconds. If the internet connection fails no ping will be received and your office machine can tell you at once that there is a problem reaching your home PC.

Your SL will be placed at 1.4700. Here is an excerpt from the the Metatrader 4 userguide.

Trailing Stop is always attached to an open position and works in client terminal, not at the server like Stop Loss, for example. To set the trailing stop, one has to execute the open position context menu command of the same name in the "Terminal" window. Then one has to select the desirable value of distance between the Stop Loss level and the current price in the list opened. Only one trailing stop can be set for each open position.

After the above actions have been performed, at incoming of new quotes, the terminal checks whether the open position is profitable. As soon as profit in points becomes equal to or higher than the specified level, command to place the Stop Loss order will be given automatically. The order level is set at the specified distance from the current price. Further, if price changes in the more profitable direction, trailing stop will make the Stop Loss level follow the price automatically, but if profitability of the position falls, the order will not be modified anymore. Thus, the profit of the trade position is fixed automatically. After each automatic Stop Loss order modification, a record will be made in the terminal journal.

To get around this issue, you can look into getting a VPS server for your MT4 platform.

Unhappy How To Export

I have assigned various EAs to various EURUSD charts in MT4 and they have started trading. But i am confused as to which EA is trading and which is not. How can i find this out. Is there an export option wherein I can export it to excel for analysis.

Marty
All three locations offer the same MT4 platform.

The reason why we offer it in different places is because after this weekend FXCM US clients will no longer be able to hedge positions due to changes in NFA rules. FXCM UK will continue to offer hedging. So any US based traders wishing to continue using hedging can go through FXCM UK. Plus, FXCM UK has the added benefit of segregated accounts in accordance with FSA regulation.

FXCM Australia offers MT4 since all Australian residents have to open through FXCM Australia.

Question FXCM MT4 powered by BT vs FXCM Trader 4

I read that you offer 2 MT4 platforms: FXCM MT4 powered by BT & FXCM Trader 4.

Am I correct to say that a trdg day in FXCM Trader 4 starts at 5pm EST and ends at 5pm EST the next day? If so, I'm inclined to go for this instead of FXCM MT4 powered by BT. How do I do that?

Thx.

The trading day for MT4 powered by BT starts at 5pm EST as well, meaning that is whenever the swap will occur on the account. Daily candlesticks on MT4 will still start at 00:00 hours.

Thank you.

You said daily candlesticks on MT4 powered by BT starts at 00:00 hours. Is this GMT or GMT+1? What about on FXCM Trader 4 platform? When (in GMT) do daily candlesticks start?
