Converting an lua Indicator to work with Strategy Trader

    Hello,

There is an issue with using Renko bricks and TS2 they mix like oil and water. I am wanting to use an indicator that is available from the fxcodebase site but need it for Strategy Trader. Is this something that is done here or should I talk to the guys at fxcodebase?

Also, I would like to have a strategy built based on the use of the indicator and renko bricks what is the typical procedure to have this done?

    Thanks

    Hello, OnTheEdge!

Can you give me more details about issue with TS2 and Renko Bricks?

Perhaps you do not know that FXCM will no longer provide any updates or bug fixes for Strategy Trader(http://forexforums.dailyfx.com/strat...gy-trader.html (Clarification on status of FXCM Strategy Trader)). So maybe using Renko Bricks under TS2 is better idea than translate this indicator to the Strategy Trader platform.

Also, I would like to have a strategy built based on the use of the indicator and renko bricks what is the typical procedure to have this done?
There are several ways to get such strategy:
    1. Use a FxCodeBase premium development service(read more). If you choose this option you will get your strategy quickly, but not for free. If you ready to choose this way you can send a mail to the development.service@gehtsoftusa.com with details of your strategy.

    2. Another way is to post your request in this thread - http://fxcodebase.com/code/viewforum.php?f=27. With this option you will get your strategy for free, but not so fast as with premium service, because FxCodebase guys has a lot of requests for free indicators and strategies. So you will need to wait your strategy for a while, if you want to get it for free.

    Hello Timon55,

No, I was not aware Strategy Trader would not be supported any further.

As for Renko bricks and TS2, currently the only way to use them is as an indicator placed over a bar or candle chart. This leaves them time dependent rather than pip dependent as they are designed to be.

You can read a post here: FXCodeBase.COM: Forex Chart Indicators and Development • View topic - Renko chart. also here FXCodeBase.COM: Forex Chart Indicators and Development • View topic - Renko chart.

Those post cover most of the problems the other issue I neglected to mention is that if you place an indicator that uses the Renko brick data like a trendline after a few miuntes the trendline does not follow the Renko nor does it not stay with the Renko, they drift apart.

I am not a programer nor do I wish to be...but it seems common sense says if we use candle data as a reference than until the reference data as finished calculating there is no data to use. Therefore, IMHO unless Renko are added to TS2 as a different Chart Mode I don't see how any of these issues could be fix.

Thank you for the reply and I would appreciate being kept in the loop on any further developments of this issue.
