Welcome to the Micro Forum! The maximum trade size on FXCM's Trading Station for Micro traders is 5,000k (5 million). So, your maximum trade size will all depend on the Margin Requirement for the currency pair you are trading and your Available Margin. Just one more question about max lotsize.
Can you trade max 5000k per trade or is 5000K the total amount.
To be more specific, can someone trade 2 trades each 5000k (total of 10000K)?

Max trade size is 5000k. Can I trade multiple positions of 5000k?

You can open up as many 5000k positions as you would like but understand that you need to have the necessary margin to have those positions open. If you are looking to trade this amount on a real account, you would be best suited for an Active Trader account. You can learn more about Active Trader by clicking here.

I know 5000K are big lotsizes, and i don't expect to trade that big lotsizes in the near future. I'm also aware of the required margin when trading big lotsizes.
I just wanted to know if there was a maximum. So from you answer i understand there is not really a maximum only that 5000K is the biggest lotsize per trade. There are brokers who have a maximum total lotszie for mini/micro accounts.

I already have a micro live account with FXCM and i also have a method. The method is ok.
My problem is my mindsetting! Things like greed / impatience / overtrading / Not taking a small loss on time, etc....
These emotions keeping me from being consistent. If i overcome these emotional issues, it will improve my results.

So when i overcome my emotional issues, i will start a challenge somebody showed me. And if that challenge turns out ok, someday i will trade the big lotsizes ;-)

Thank you for your reply! You are correct, you can have as many 5000k tickets opened as you would like. FXCM will not limit your maximum trade size.

Hi Rob I am a bit confused When you are saying that the max trade size is 5000k.
Could you please clarify:

The initial question was what is the max (micro)lots per trade on a micro acount. However you talk about max trade size.

So do you mean that the max trade size in Notional value cannot exceed 5000k (5 million dollars) therefore 5000 micro lots or are you actually talking about 5000k micro lots as in 5000k X 0.01 lots ?

What is the maximum lot size when trading at FXCM?

Here at FXCM there are no trading restrictions; you can open as many positions as you'd like as long as you have sufficient margin. At the time Rob provided a response earlier in this thread, the maximum lot size per order or ticket for FXCM Micro accounts was five million (5,000,000). For all other accounts it was fifty million (50,000,000).

Now the maximum lot size per order or ticket across all account types is fifty million (50,000,000).

You can place as many fifty million (50,000,000) orders as you'd like as long as you have sufficient margin to do so. Please click here (Margin Trading and Leverage FAQ) for more information regarding margin and leverage.


What type of account might be best for me?

It sounds like you're interested in placing some pretty large orders. If so an Active Trader account will probably best suit your needs and trading style. Our Active Trader accounts have several other benefits in addition to those that you would receive from a Standard Account. Thank you for your post!

We have several account leverage options available at www.myfxcm.com, but 1:1 is not an option that is available. This is not an option restriction for micro accounts because I do not think any of our accounts can be setup with 1:1 leverage. The reason for is because of how high the margin requirements would be to open a trade. If you wanted to trade 5k EUR/USD, it would require an account balance over $6,000 if your leverage was set to 1:1.

If you want to maintain reasonable leverage levels, follow what effective leverage you are using in your account. Look at how much money you have in your account and compare it to your positions' size. For example, if you have $500 in your account and have a 5k USD/JPY positions open, you are trading with 10:1 leverage.

$5,000 worth of trades / $500 in your account = 10:1 leverage

I apologize for the delay in response. The 0.01 lot size in MT4 is the equivalent of a 1k trade on our Micro accounts. So you are trading the exact same $0.10/pip on the EURUSD whether your trade size is 0.01 on MT4 or 1k on Trading Station. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks and have a great day!
