Just an opinion on these Risk-Reward numbers (in general )...you have two numbers one is a fact if you stick to the plan the other is a hyperthetical number ..that hyperthetical number is only valid if your trading method is to let the trade run till your target is hit or your stopped out....other than that risk-reward is fancy way of saying whats possible...
But what Wave is saying in right...you can have a win-loss ratio into the 25% range as long as your wins more than compensate for your losses. common sense I would think....but slips under the radar at times.
So after you have done a reasonable amount of trades its time to look at the numbers to see how your going you might think the trading is going ok but are you starting to cut your wins short as to make a profit regardless of the amount..in this case the problem might not show up for a little while...but it soon will..

That is only because Varun was/is a very good trader and people actually relied on what he said. NOT speaking for myself, i'm doing quite well without him. It was nice to read what his strategy was and it was for the most part very good and worked most of the time. Usually new people have nothing to contribute if they're learning from people like Varun. BTW, why do you take offense from me asking about Varun? It's not a big deal as you're making it out to be.
I remember when Varun began this thread- it was to enlarge the knowledge and share ideas about technical trading in Cable amongst traders- that's why he named it Technical Look and Daily Cals.
If he does not wish to contribute to that, that is upto him but you should have learnt something from what he was saying/trading.
Maybe he found the various views difficult to contend with it happens often with traders that they can be pulled of track by comments made from other traders rather than maintain focus on their trading method.
He could be experimenting with Fibo channels that IMO are much more accurate and can reflect the range better than those drawn freehand.
It is upto him if he wishes to continue contributing- we have tried to keep this thread going by contributing our ideas- please feel free to add your own.
To leave posts like 'where is Varun' does not fall into the ethos of this thread.
If traders, really are not interested in this thread then it will die. It is sad when we can not discuss the technical aspects of trading.
Geez guys, When i was new to the game i came in here to learn and have learned alot from other people and their ways of trading. In the time i've learned from people like Varun and have chatted with him several times on yahoo and even on here i found my own ways of formulating and graphing a chart. My intent was to say that it's ashame varun isn't posting anymore, he's a good trader to learn from and other people who are contributing like you guys are. Just calm down and continue doing what you're doing.
Hey guys lets put an end to all of this bickering. Varun has been busy helping his clients. He is going to be back posting in a few days, that is all there is to that.
JohnM what are your thoughts on geppy. I am thinking that the usd/jpy is set up for a pretty nice fall. We have some good bearish divergence on the daily charts as well as lower time frames. Also we tried to push through resistance topside yesterday but was unable to sustain a break. Anyway this is still a good thread where thoughts and ideas can be shared by all.
its looking like no trade for me today...Geppy not moving to much.
cable 4hr .. going sideways and Jpy 4hr stalled at a support level.
If we get a break down below 117.53 then the close 117.43 Jpy could be heading to 116.92 as a first stop...If Cable keep going sideways...Geppy should fall..

Hey Icarus good to see you posting. I don't know anything about gopher too big a spread for my liking. Just cut my usd/jpy short for some profit. Think it will bounce a little higher after 117.55 held so I will just reshort at higher levels.
Another thing that plagues me about holding a long term position is watching the profit rack up and then watch it go away. I know these are different trading styles but it is hard for me to do.
