Hello Kathy and Boris,

I was thinking about the relationship between the EUR/CHF and came up with a few fundamental questions. Any insight you could provide would be most helpful

1. Since these 2 regions are so economically tied at the hip, it should stand to reason that the most likely movements this pair would make are range-bound in nature. But for over a year, the EUR has been trending upward relative to CHF, despite the CHF being just as strong from a fundamental point of view. Would the carry trade be the only thing to explain this phenomenon?

2. Besides a drastic change in the interest rate differential, what would be some possible causes for this pair to reverse and experience a downtrend of equal or similar magnitude?

Hi Kathy and Boris,

I have heard that understanding Forex fundamentals helps a lot in taking technical trades.

1- I would like to know how a day trader can use fundamentals on an intraday basis and take technical trades?

2- Also, there are a lot of speculative activities in the market creating intraday moves/trends even if no fundamentally important reports have been released. So in this case, does a day trader have to analyze the market solely with technical indicators without any fundamental consideration?

3- what's your best advice for day traders in terms of using both fundamentals and technicals?

thanks in advance.

Trading systems.

Can you tell me something about trading systems. What are they exactly and do they really work? Is it worth buying one?

Lightbulb FX market summer months

Hi K & B, great job.
Does the currency market slow down during the summer months pretty much like the stock market does?
Is the slow down just attributed to low volatility since there are fewer speculators?
My perception is that other than low volatility and low volume in the stock market all the other stuff (fundamentals etc) should not change much and since these are what drive the FX market there should be fairly decent opportunities to make profits in the summer months?
Can you please give me some insight on how to trade the summer months? Maybe what currencies, events, etc to focus on?
Thanks.

Question Yen Vs Pound

Just a quick question from a complete novice. My brother is about to return home from Japan with about £4000 of yen. However it seems to me that the Yen is pretty much the strongest it has been against the pound for a long time, should he keep hold of it? i know any advice is subjective and personal but any hints would be greatfully receieved.

Thanks in advance

Oli

Parabolic SAR

Ahlan B&K from Sunny Dubai!

I am quite keen to understand more about the Parabolic SAR and how to apply it in Forex trading. My questions are :

1). Do you think Parabolic SAR is a good system? I have seen it used in Stocks before, but not so much in FX

2). On which chart time scale does it work best?

3). Do you think any other indicator systems are better for Forex?

Also - I find some of your commentaries a little contradictory. For example, if you look at your technical analysis for the GBP/USD, you say that its approaching its top, and will head down within weeks. However, elsewhere on the site, your commentary speculates it will stay above 2.. I have noticed this before with the NZD/USD and JPY/USD commentaries.

What is your view on this?

Thankyou!

Viva L'Onion.
