    STRATEGY BACKTESTER - CCI STRATEGY

    Hi FXCM

    I have been trying to use the TS back tester to back tester the CCI strategy but I am not getting any results. I have followed the instruction in the FAQ section and the backtester will initiate a back testing process but will not give me any data on Account statistics and trade statistics. The start balance is 1500 and the final balance is still 1500. I have tried the MACD strategy and it works just fine.

    Help with the CCI strategy back testing please. FXCM member since April 2011.

    Thank you for your post! Allow me to help.


    Why does my backtest not show trades on some of the built-in strategies in Trading Station?

    What you described is most likely due to CCI being an "Alerts Only" strategy. If you take a look at the CCI strategy specifically, it is a signal only strategy. This means it will only give signals for trades. It was not made to make trades. The reason why MACD was showing trading results was because MACD is considered a an actual Strategy. See the image below for clarification:


    Where can I download different trade-able strategies for Trading Station.

    You can access a library full of custom-built strategies by clicking on Alerts and Trading Automation -> Import Strategies and Alerts -> "Download more strategies and alerts" inside Marketscope 2.0. See image below:


    This will navigate you to FxCodeBase. Click on "Strategies" and you will find CCI Strategy is listed as an available download. Use the download and install instructions found on FxCodeBase to download the indicator(s) of your choice. Once you run a backtest with with the new CCI strategy, you will see that it will place trades.
